Iridium launches second generation electric motorhome

Still in its infancy, electric motorhomes are like hen's teeth currently and of those most have a very limited driving range. However, Iridium's second generation electric motorhome now claims to have a range of 400km (250 miles), which is a definite step forward.

WOF GmbH has developed the motorhome in partnership with EFA-S, a specialist in e-drive vans. 

The Iridium uses innovative Li-Fe battery technology with ceramic separators delivering 150kW (around 200bhp) of power and a torque of 730Nm. Thomas Gräter, managing director of WOF states, "Race cars in Formula One have a torque of about 400Nm, so no hill should be a problem."

There are two different charging systems built-in with fast charging currently up to 50kWh (this could go up to 100kWh in the future) or a standard plug giving up to 22kWh.

The production of the second generation Iridium will be limited to 30 motorhomes, with delivery starting in early 2020. You can order one of these motorhomes at Iridium's stand at the Dusseldorf Caravan Salon starting this weekend (August 31 - September 8, 2019).
