Hymer expands B-Class MC coachbuilt motorhome range

e806cc7d-52ef-4ef0-8eb7-82b2b3e96f74

Hymer has launched a pair of new models in its B-Class ModernComfort range of coachbuilt motorhomes.

It follows the launch of the first models in this new range built on the latest Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and you can read the first UK review of one of these – the B-MC T 580 – in the latest issue of MMM magazine, Britain's best-selling motorhome magazine.

The two new 3.5-tonne (4.5-tonne is an option) models – the B-MC 550 and B-MC 600 – combine a Sprinter chassis cowl with Hymer’s super-lightweight SLC chassis – an industry first – are available in either low-profile (denoted with a T in the name) or A-class (which has an I instead of the T in its name) bodies.

The 550 features a transverse rear bed measuring 2.05 by 1.42 metres. Extra storage space has been created underneath the bed. There is also space for a large floor-to-ceiling wardrobe next to the sleeping area. Further storage can be found in the garage, which has a 350kg load capacity. It also has a separate area for mopeds with a height of up to 1.23m and a width of 90cm in the 550 and 99cm in the 600.

Meanwhile, the 600 features two twin beds, which are 1.98m long and have two wardrobes underneath the mattresses on the left and right.

As an option, a double drop-down is available on both layouts, although this option will take the A-class models over 3.5-tonnes.

Forward of the bedroom, the models have very similar layouts with a central kitchen with large work surface, as well as a three-burner hob and circular sink; British models are likely o get an oven and grill as standard. Opposite is the washroom, which is equipped with a shower that has a headroom of 1.90m, as well as a level standing area throughout.

Forward of this is the front lounge, which has a forward-facing half-dinette with two travel seats and a side-facing sofa, which is 30cm wider in the 550 than in the B-MC 680 or 600.

Both models are built using Hymer’s tried-and-tested PUAL wood-free construction technology, and come with a spacious double floor, which houses all of the technical components, such as the electronics, tanks and heating system.

“We will be continuing our successful collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Vans once again this year and adding two new layouts to our B-Class ModernComfort for a total of five different versions,” confirmed Christian Bauer, Managing Director of Hymer.

British prices and exact specifications have not yet been confirmed.
