Barrons are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2006 with a series of special events, to be announced throughout the year. The business was established in 1956 by Dave Barron, who initially had a stock of just 10 caravans which he sold from his back garden in Blackpool.
Things have changed dramatically since then, and Barrons now have seven branches across the UK, and one in New Zealand. At any one time there are up to 1,500 vehicles on their forecourts, including motorhomes, which came on the scene for Barrons in 1994. The business is now owned by Gordon Hold, who took over in 1970, and the stock has since expanded to include holiday homes, folding campers, tents, awnings and accessories.
