Grand California to make its UK debut at the NEC
Volkswagen’s new larger campervan, the Grand California, will make its first appearance in Britain at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the Birmingham NEC, 19 to 24 February.
Although the new Crafter-based camper is available in two versions, the 600 and the longer 680, only one model will be on the stand (5258) alongside a version of the current T6 California. The show debut of a left-hand drive example will be in advance of a full UK launch of right-hand drive Grand Californias in the middle of this year.
UK specifications and pricing will be available closer to the time but both the Grand California 600 and 680 are confirmed to go on sale here, each with RHD and a right-hand sliding door.
Already, Volkswagen UK have seen a massive response to the new full-sized campervans, with over 1,800 people registering for more information from VW’s website between its launch at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon in August and the end of 2018.
The Crafter-based high-top models will be sold alongside the original California pop-top camper at Van Centres across the country. Currently, 73 of the UK Van Centres are designated Tour Sites able to sell the leisure vehicles.
