German motorhome manufacturer, Knaus, to introduce factory collections and new rental service
German motorhome and campervan manufacturer, Knaus, is to launch a factory collection service for buyers of its new models
The company said that the offer will be an “amazing experience” for customers who will be invited to come to the company’s headquarters and production facility to not only collect their new model but to understand more about the company and how it builds its motorhomes.
Customers will go to Germany and be given VIP treatment as guests of Knaus and will be shown around the factory, meet members of the team, better understand how the company works and of course be presented with the keys to their new motorhome and be given a detailed handover.
The company has also confirmed it is to launch a new motorhome rental service in the UK.
The new offering, called Rent and Travel, was launched in Germany last year and already has 250 partnering travel agencies who deal with the bookings and over 1,000 rental vehicles, which are operated by 80 dealers.
Now it is brining the concept to the UK and plans to launch at the 2018 February motorhome show at the NEC in Birmingham.
By using a network of travel agents, it hopes customers will discuss their needs in their home country and then book a motorhome in the country they’re travelling to. The local dealers in that country will manage the process once the customer arrives.
There is no booking system on the internet, but customers can search for their local travel agent or nearest participating dealer, as well as read more about the new service. Already over 100,000 visitors have used the website in Germany. It is planned that internet booking will be possible but there was no timescale for this.
The plan for the new rental service, said the German manufacturer, is to make it easy for newcomers to motorhoming to try it out for a holiday.
To help, Knaus has developed a range of well-equipped overcab coachbuilts with stickers explaining all the common questions strategically placed throughout the motorhomes. The stickers reveal answers to common questions like the vehicles height and width, as well as what various controls are for inside. These models will also be offered for sale under the Knaus ‘Traveller’ range. Customers can also rent Weinsberg motorhomes.
Knaus has also teamed up with campsites to try to ensure its rental customers get offered special deals. This will also be rolled out in the UK.
The rollout to other European countries includes Switzerland, Holland and the UK. The aim, says Knaus, is to become the number one rental brand for new customers in Europe.
