Fiat issues recall over deactivation issue

Some 5303 vehicles based on the Fiat Ducato chassis have been issued an official recall from Fiat because of potential problems with the instrument panel light and other electronic systems. This is unrelated to the panel brightness issue reported in the previous issue of MMM. The recall is because, “in some circumstances the driver and passenger may experience consequent switching off of the instrument panel light and possible deactivation of other electronic systems, such as the ABS and airbags. The concern is caused by loose connections at the ignition switch contact holder block.”

Affected vehicles are being recalled so that the ignition switch contact holder block can be replaced. The affected vans were built in the period 1/10/14 to 11/12/2015. Fiat has advised customers wanting to check if their vehicle is included in this recall to contact their nearest Fiat Professional Dealer or telephone the Fiat Customer Service Centre on 00800 3428 0000.

Motorhome customers can also visit the website Fiat Camper where, on the landing page, there is a Chassis Check function that allows customers to check if their specific vehicle is involved in any current recall campaigns.
