Danbury shows off improved Avenir campervans

af8933c1-76da-4f37-b57b-fdc15212dc06

British campervan manufacturer Danbury, which is owned by the French Pilote Group, has unveiled an improved version of its rear lounge Avenir.

The Avenir range was introduced last season and encompasses Fiat Ducato high-top van conversions in 5.41m, 5.99m and 6.36m lengths – all built in France and previously seen with Pilote Van branding.

However, there is one exception to that rule as the 63 LG, which was launched in February, was developed especially for the UK and is, so far, the only model with its sliding door on the British nearside.

Now this two-berth rear lounge camper has an improved form with a stepless floor in the living area (previously a raised floor featured in the lounge), enhanced interior lighting and new upholstery (with flaps that cover the bed mechanisms). The 63 LG has two 1.86m-long settees at the rear, a kitchen with 85-litre Vitrifrigo fridge and Thetford Duplex oven/grill and three-burner hob, and a bathroom with bench cassette toilet and separate shower.

Amongst the fixed bed line-up there’s also a new layout, the 60 TW. This is a six-metre model with fixed single beds and the only travel seats being the two in the cab. The front seats swivel to face a sliding table with rotating extension leaf, a footrest and cupboards, instead of the usual half-dinette.

At the rear, the new Avenir 60 TW has twin beds (1.87m long on the nearside, 1.89m on the offside) with a central storage area dividing the mattresses. The kitchen (adjacent to the offside sliding door) has an 85-litre compressor fridge and combination hob/sink unit, while the washroom (opposite) includes a neat fold-down washbasin and slide-away cassette toilet to maximise space for showering.

All of the 2020 season Danbury Avenirs will be available in Premium finish only.

To read full details of all the new 2020 motorhomes and campervans, a special supplement will be available FREE with the November issue of MMM magazine, Britain's best-selling motorhome magazine. You can download a copy of MMM magazine here.
