Club extends free campsite WiFi availability
The Camping and Caravanning Club has invested in its campsite WiFi coverage this winter, improving the range and coverage at 29 of its sites, with 85% of its own campsites offers free WiFi, too.
The club claims that the average speed of WiFi at the majority of club sites should be fine for shopping online, searching the internet, checking emails and using social media. The WiFi hotspots, extending around 50m to 100m from the antenna, will struggle to cope with streaming or downloading TV shows and films, so the advice is to download these to your device at home before you travel.
The club has invested more than £500,000 extending WiFi coverage in recent months.
So, campsites that are open all year will already be offering free WiFi, while this service will become available at more and more of the club's sites as they open for the season.
There are still a small selection of sites using independent WiFi providers, with guests incurring a cost for using these services - these are Ashbourne, Charmouth, Cheddar Mendip Heights, Hereford and Skye. There are five sites that do not offer Wi-Fi access which include Corfe Castle, Crowden, Glencoe, Speyside by Craigellachie and West Runton. Also, the Wyeside Club Site only has Wi-Fi surrounding our Holiday Homes; Wi-Fi is not available on the touring pitches.
