Choice of three base vehicles for HemBil campervans
With the launch at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC in February, of a Ford Transit Custom-based version, CMC’s HemBil Escape campervan is now available on three different base vehicles.
The Escape conversion was already offered on both Renault Trafic and Volkswagen Transporter (now in T6.1 form) bases. The new Ford Escape follows the typical side kitchen format of the existing models with differences solely down to the internal dimensions of the different vans. It features a Reimo sliding seat system, while the galley can be fitted with either a 36-litre top-loading fridge or a 40-litre front door model.
Options include an extra, removable, travel seat (increasing the number of seatbelts from five to six), a driver’s seat swivel and a roof bed. Also available is a lithium battery and solar panel as a combined package, priced at £1,090.
CMC, based in Hythe, Kent, uses the Transit Custom Kombi in Trendline specification for the new conversion. Prices for the campervan start at £49,950 with the 128bhp (130PS) engine and manual gearbox. For comparison, the Renault-based Escape starts at £44,950 (with 120bhp engine), while the VW version is priced from £46,950 in Smart Line trim (with 108bhp/110PS) or £54,950 in the Comfort range. CMC has also announced that it can now offer both its Drift and Urban conversions on both Ford and Renault, as well as VW, too.
