Carthago wins the European innovation prize for lightning protection concept
Being struck by lightning while in your motorhome has become a lot safer, if you drive a Carthago. The German company has received the European Innovation Award 2016 for their lightning protection concept.
Bernd Wuschack, Managing Director of Sales, Marketing and Customer Services for Carthago said, "The award is proof of the innovative leadership of Carthago in the motorhome trade. You are always travelling safely in a Carthago.”
The Carthago lightning protection concept is unique and features aluminium on the insides of the wall that form a protective Faraday cage. If lightning should strike the motorhome, it is directed to the ground via the walls, additional lightning arrestor and the chassis. The robust roof outer skin made from GRP also reliably protects against damage caused by hail.
The construction of the motorhome also represents maximum safety. The highly stable, and completely wood-free, Carthago main body construction has a double floor and bonded, shaped-fitted, aluminium support struts that protect the occupants like a safe cocoon. In combination with the equally light and stable low-frame chassis from AL-KO, this provides a low centre of gravity for optimum driving dynamics.
