Caravan Club CL of the Year Awards 2014

Small sites, perfect locations

Caravan Club Certificated Locations are privately-owned, maximum five-van sites found across the UK, many in idyllic and remote locations on farms, country estates and beside inns. Each year, the one million members of the Caravan Club vote on which are the best in the CL of the Year Awards, with the winners being presented the award from The Rt Hon Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport, during The Club’s annual Parliamentary Reception.

This year Poole Farm CL in Devon took the overall honours thanks to a combination of great location – adjacent to the River Tamar and set within rolling countryside – and top quality facilities. The Pool Farm site welcomes dogs, has individual bird feeding stations and has walks through an orchard and wild flower paddock. Owners David Hunter and Diana Smith commented, ““Over the three seasons that we have been open we have welcomed comments and suggestions, many of which we have implemented. It is so rewarding to receive positive comments and see returning visitors, many of whom have become friends.”

Second place went to Carrs Hill CL, owned by Grant and Gillian Turnbull, in Denny, Stirling. The Turnbull’s remarked,  “Since 2010 the CL has blossomed beyond belief.  We believe we provide a quiet, well presented CL that offers more than the minimal requirements, such as hardstanding pitches, individual water taps, toilets, shower, Wi-Fi and an information room – all of which are very much appreciated by our visitors and very well received.”

In third place, Paul and Helen Clarke of Brunette Cottage Caravan Park, near Whitchurch in Shropshire, had recently installed new shower and WC facilities. They commented, “We enjoy meeting and welcoming a diverse range of visitors to our site and sharing the beautiful views and countryside with them.  Our local knowledge ensures their stay meets their needs and interests too.”
