Great CLs and horticultural excellence have been recognised in two of the Caravan and Motorhome Club's annual awards schemes.

The winner of Certificated Location of the Year Award 2019 is Brunette Cottage, situated in the beautiful Welsh Borders countryside. Cherry Cottage in Dorset took second place and Marylands in Pembrokeshire came third. Best Newcomer was awarded to Barn Owl Meadow in Suffolk.

Grenville Chamberlain OBE, Chairman of the Caravan and Motorhome Club said: “Our network of CLs provide our members with unique stays up and down the UK, and whilst each one is special, they unfortunately cannot all win! The awards celebrate owners who truly go above and beyond to give visitors the very best experience."

Overall winner, Brunette Cottage in North Wales has a washroom with underfloor heating, an info room as well as a croquet pitch.

Cherry Cottage (second place), is near Sherbourne, Dorset. The site only opened in June 2019, offering toilet, electric hook-ups, laundry room and micro shop.

Marylands in Pembrokeshire took third place and is known for its welcome packs.

The Best Newcomer, Barn Owl Meadow, has two large bathrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible.

Sites in Bloom Awards were introduced in 2003 to reward the creative displays of site wardens and volunteers on its sites. This year's top spots go to York Beechwood Grange (in  the multi-couple category) and Ashridge Farm in Hertfordshire (with one set of site wardens).

The displays were rated on their layout and creative use of space, variety, innovation, flair and colour coordination. There were also points for economy and low maintenance. The judges also looked for plant species that were chosen to suit the local environment.

Runners up this year were Edinburgh (Multi-couple) and Minehead (Single couple).

Harvey Alexander, Director of Marketing at the Caravan and Motorhome Club said: “I’d like to thank all our incredibly dedicated site wardens who work hard to ensure that every site in the network has attractive grounds. Every year we receive so many wonderful entries for the Awards, so huge congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who entered.”

The second annual sites awards is for CLs or Certificated Locations. These are five-pitch locations exclusive to Caravan and Motorhome Club members. The sites are nominated by Club members.
