Brace of new VW T5 campervan conversions launched

West Yorkshire-based SK Motorhomes has announced the release of two new VW campervan conversions, one using the long wheel base T5, the other the short wheel base version.

The LWB Aura offers four sleeping berths but an option of four or five travelling seats. The rear of the van has a galley kitchen with cassette toilet and privacy screen.  There’s a Smev two-burner gas hob with an oven and grill in the kitchen area and a modest 50-litre fridge to keep things cool. Overhead is a SCA deluxe sleeper roof which has a pull-down bed for two. Alternatively, there are two RIB rear sets that make up two single beds as the driving seats rotate around to face them.

The high-gloss plum furniture and  hidden LED lighting give it an upmarket look. The heating is courtesy of Webasto diesel blown while fresh water is a 45-litre capacity. There’s room in the side for two gas bottles as required. Your privacy is protected by the tinted glass windows to both sides and the near side, rear quarter.

For power needs the Aura has a 110MAh leisure battery, one 12v socket and two 230v sockets as well as the mains hookup option.

Meanwhile, there’s also the Ace, which is the version on the T5 SWB. This differs by providing a front-elevating sleep roof, rock and roll style double bed, a microwaves and a choice of work surface colours and furniture finishes. The other bed is courtesy of the pull-down in the roof, making for the ability to sleep four and carry up to five. It has an 85MAh leisure battery, one 12v socket and two 240v sockets.

The double-bed means that the kitchen is in the traditional position of down the side of the van.  It also has a flip-out table that sits in front of the rear seats for dining purposes. Dotted around the van are plenty of storage cupboards while warmth retention is tackled by fully insulated walls, doors, floor and ceiling.

Prices are new OTR from £44,995 for the Aura and from £37,995 for the Ace. The conversions can also be done at a reduced price on older, pre-owned models. More details at skmotorhomes.co.uk.
