Pilote Premium LV6.8LF

See why the Pilote Premium LV6.8LF was Luxury Motorhome of the Year 2016 below.

This class is always very interesting to judge as you might think that the most expensive motorhome will win. But it’s not an open-and-shut case as the judges look at criteria such as suitability for the needs and desires of UK motorhomers and even value for money. And so to our winner, a ‘van that’s as new as can be, not just new layout or size, but an entirely new motorhome from Pilote.

As befits a luxury ‘van there’s a plumbing-cosseting double floor – so winter camping should be a breeze – underpinned by the almost obligatory upmarket Al-Ko chassis.

This is a four berth ‘van so where are the rear travel seats? Well, Pilote has taken advantage of clever units that fold up from under the sofas and cleverly, they can be removed when not needed, saving weight and creating more stowage space.

The lounge gets cleverer as the table slides, on rails, into the cab when not needed and the drop down A-class bed provides twin lengthways single beds, with an optional double as an alternative.

• As for the shower, well, it’s of the type seen in much bigger, much swankier ‘vans, but fits in beautifully here – a shower you’ll want to use everyday, we think.

Judges comments included: ‘drop-down single-bed set-up a great feature,’ ‘superb Brit-friendly lounge,’ ‘terrifically spacious kitchen’ and ‘look at the size of that shower!’
