Island bed motorhomes offer true luxury - you get a ready-made double bed in an area that really could pass for a hotel room. Why compromise?

Sometimes, the idea of compromise just doesn't cut the mustard. After all, why should you compromise on a purchase that's second only in value to the cost of your house?

We all know that climbing over your partner to get out of bed at night isn't ideal, climbing down a ladder in the dark isn't always safe and not being able to sit up and read in bed isn't always convenient. We all want to relax whilst we're away, not have constraints put on our comfort..

Island bed layouts provide a mattress as comfortable as any domestic one and, with access on both sides of the bed, you won't be fighting with your partner about who gets pushed up against the cold wall.

Expect padded headboards, individual spotlights and his 'n' her wardrobes. Some even have special features such as bed bases that rise at the head end to create a chaise longue.

Island bed motorhomes have designs that allow the entire 'bedroom' to be closed off from the lounge and kitchen areas, which means privacy while changing and a real sense that you have two completely separate areas to the motorhome.

Quite often, at the foot of the bed on one side is the WC and on the other you'll find the shower.

Forward of this, will be the kitchen area leading into the lounge and on into the cab.

You do get island beds in van conversions and smaller motorhomes but this means there will be major compromises elsewhere as the luxury of an island bed means an awful lot of space is given over to the bedroom, often at the expense of the kitchen.

Island beds will have masses of storage underneath, which can genrally be accessed thanks to gas strust that allow easily lifting of the mattress and supports.
