Auto-Trail, which is part of the massive Trigano Group, is a major British manufacturer that only makes motorhomes. It manufacturers both coachbuilt and van conversions and remains a massive player on the British market with a huge – and very loyal – customer base.

This year it has brought its Tribute campers and coachbuilts under the Auto-Trail umbrella...

New Auto-Trail motorhomes for 2018

Tribute Compact

The new name for Auto-Trail's entry-level van conversions, you get three models, the four-berth T-669, the two-berth T-670 and the two-berth T-680. This year, these models are all enhanced by new worktops, new upholstery and a fixed table in the front lounge area.

Tribute coachbuilts

Tribute layouts remain the same, but the range is now branded as an Auto-Trail Tribute. Choose between the end kitchen/washroom T-615 and T-620, the rear lounge T-625, the French bed T-715, the bunk bed T-726 and the T-720 and T-736 with twin lounges. As with the campers you now get different graphics, new upholstery and new worktops.

V-Line

The more upmarket V-Line van conversion ranges sees two different types this year - SE and Sport. SE is a more standard van converison and offers four rear lounge layouts from the 5.41m MWB Fiat up to the 6.36m XLWB version. Then you can upgrade three of these models (not the 540) with a Sport Pack, which included the GRP moulded back panel instead of rear doors, a U-shaped lounge and a whole host of other features like flush-fit side windows.

Imala

This is Auto-Trail's mid-priced offering, now with four layouts including a new 732 model with a transverse island bed. For 2018 you get new rear lights and panel, improved LED lighting and a lockable Whale water filler cap. You can also order these models with a Media Pack.

Tracker

This was originally Auto-Trail's more compact models, but it now includes the 7.60m RB, introduced a couple of years ago, and now the LB, which is the same length as the RB, but the island bed is positioned in a more traditional lengthways position, rather than transverse.

Frontier

Finally, the flagship Frontier continues with seven models, adoptong the same new control panel that is going into the Tracker and Apache ranges.

2013 Auto-Trail Mohawk

Base vehicle Fiat Ducato

Engines 2.3-litre 130bhp

Length 7.5m

Gross weight 4,250kg

This belongs to Auto-Trail's flagship range, so all models are likely to be extremely well equipped as standard, with owners adding even more kits from the options list, so expect awnings, allow wheels and reversing cameras. Prices will match though.

Although it is a four berth, the one we found came with twin inward facing sofas in the lounge, making it a two berth, but both occupants get good sprawling space. the kitchen space is roomy, opposite the habitation door, while the easy to access bed is at a low level at the rear. That transverse double bed allows for good exterior storage for your outdoor furniture, with access doors on both sides. And then there's that Auto-Trail Frontier trademark spare wheel carrier on the rear panel. The ones from this era, blend beautifully with the mouldings for a barely-ther look.

2010 Auto-Trail Arapaho

FROM £46,995    Auto-Trail Mohawk

Make and model Auto-Trail Arapaho

Base vehicle Fiat Ducato

Engines 3.0-litre 160bhp

Length 8.73m

Gross weight 5,000kg

This is one of the largest of the Frontiers and has a truly multi-functional layout. Whether you're a family of four or a couple looking for extra space, this massive tag-axle could provide the perfect home from home. You'll find some models with six seat belts and six berths, but the one here, has safe travelling seats for four. but there are beds for six, allowing a family, full flexibility when it comes to nighttimes. The front full dinette makes a double, as does the large rear lounge, while there is a third double over the cab.
