Bowmoor Lodge: A fashionable home

Val Chapman gets to know Prestige’s latest lodge. Her guided tour starts in the lounge.

Denim blues and copper define Prestige’s new Bowmoor lodge, unveiled in February; it’s a fashionable home with bold styling

In good weather, you’d have the large front French doors open all the time and live a little alfresco in style.

Cool blues and copper are the first things that catch your eyes as you step inside the new Bowmoor lodge. A wide open lounge-dining room with a galley-style kitchen is your second impression.

Then you begin to notice the details that characterise the Bowmoor. It is a high-end lodge, luxuriously furnished in an ultra-modern style. Two French windows open at the front. Between them is a striking feature: a flame-effect electric fire set in a large white glass frame.

The cool, almost pastel blue hues are predominantly in the seating – a chunky, comfortable chair and an L-shaped sofa, all laden with big cushions in a multitude of patterns and textures, in cream, black and cool greys. The blue also appears in curtains and Roman blinds.

And the copper?

Three large pendant lights define the edge of the kitchen; they shine down on the work surface and sink area. A fourth copper pendant light hangs above the dining table on the other side the room. Together these four lights form a stunningly defining and notable feature of the lodge.

The side walls are almost white and slightly textured. The feature completes with a fireplace wall in horizontal cladding coloured in a shade called 'denim drift'. There are eleven spotlights set into the ceiling. The dining table and coffee table are light oak. The whole effect is modern and quality.

All the interior doors are panelled, and matt white. The ceilings follow the same theme, again pure white.

Entrance

When sitting in the lounge, it would be easy to think of the main entrance of the Bowmoor as the large front French doors; in good weather, you’d have those doors open all the time and live a little alfresco in style.

The main entrance is in fact on one side – and it’s a proper hallway, with a padded seat on which to sit while you take off your shoes, and then hide them away under the seat, or in a cabinet alongside. It’s a brilliantly practical feature as well as a welcoming conventional hallway.

Kitchen

A dishwasher comes as standard as is a large fridge-freezer containing a wine rack. The microwave and oven (incorporating a grill) are on the rear wall of the kitchen, alongside the hob, with an extractor fan.

The cabinet scheme is unusual and most attractive; predominantly light grey with oak for the convenient drawers under the hob and for the cabinet and drawers opposite. The worktop is all white.

Main bedroom

The main bedroom is spacious, with a large window, a dressing table with a big landscape-shaped mirror framed in brushed steel.

A white wall of sliding partly opaque glass panels set in steel frames hides an enormous wardrobe and an en suite, containing a huge shower and a heated towel rail that’s almost floor to ceiling.
There’s a touch of copper here, too, in the frames of two black-shaded reading lamps alongside the bed.

More beds
Bowmoor Lodge second bedroomThe second bedroom has twin beds, and there’s another wood-panelled wall to catch your eyes, this time the panels are vertically aligned. And the wardrobe has sliding doors – again glass; this time white and grey, set into steel frames.

Notable styling points are a Roman blind in a bold grey and blue vertical striped fabric and deep-padded upholstered headboards. This room looks like a bijou hotel room!

Bathroom

The Bowmoor lodge is available up to 65 feet x 22 feet in either one, two, three or four bedroom options.
