Best park offers the golden touch in more ways than one

No wonder Poston Mill has just won the British Tourist Authority’s 2015 gold award for best holiday park. Its address says it all: Golden Valley. And the marketing name for the six-strong group of parks of which it is part, all run by members of the same family, reinforces the message: Best Parks.

All are located in beautiful countryside on either side of the Welsh border. All can be found within easy reach of Birmingham. All offer first-class opportunities for enjoying outdoor activities, not least walking and fishing. All set themselves ultra-high standards.

Poston Mill lies midway between Hay-on-Wye and Hereford, within easy reach of both. Wander round the park and it is so neat and well manicured that you could swear they go round the grounds trimming the grass with nail scissors.

No wonder it has won the top gold award in the Bellamy conservation scheme for 12 years.

Surrounded by fields and woodland and spread across 35 acres of Herefordshire’s Golden Valley, Poston Mill has plots for 115 caravans of which half a dozen are twins and the rest singles.

That total will increase to 127 over the next 18 months with the addition of a dozen premier plots suitable for homes up to 43ftx20.

Plots come in standard and premier form (approximately half and half, with pitch fees to match), the difference being in the size and location of each pitch.

They start at £2090 per annum, dogs are allowed and prices for holiday homes begin at £33,000.
