The 209 Swift Corniche 18/4 is a fixed-bed special edition four-berth from Wandahome South Cave, based on the Swift Charisma 555
Full review
The Swift Corniche 18/4 is loaded with £1730-worth of extras that cost you only £500. This is Wandahome South Cave’s own Swift range, based on the Charisma. The difference is that Wandahome’s Corniches have a great package of added specification.
Why call them Corniche? The long-running Swift Corniche range had a reputation for quality and value, making it an obvious choice as the name for a range of dealer specials.
This is essentially a Swift Charisma 555, a four berth with a fixed double bed, from Swift’s well-built entry range of caravans.?
Here’s the list of extras – deep breath: an alarm system that would cost you £215 if you ordered it independently of this package; Ultracomfort mattress worth £600; Omnivent extractor fan worth £245; exterior waterproof locker box worth £200; gas barbecue point worth £130; side lift jack and brackets worth £100; automatic gas changeover system worth £100; external mains socket worth £140 – and upholstery that’s unique to this special range.
The layout gives you the luxury of a fixed bed, together with the spaciousness of a central kitchen with additional work surface opposite – plenty of room here for the television as well as plates and food. There’s a microwave above this unit, which also houses the heater.
Upholstery distinguishes the Corniche. It’s nicely enhanced by four scatter cushions that each get a warm red stripe on a mixture of terracotta, peach and fawn.
In the kitchen you’ll find a mains hotplate plus three gas burners of usefully varying sizes. The oven and grill are Stoves, the fridge a Thetford. The sink gets a chopping board cover, so makes best use of surface space.
The bedroom is separated from the living area by a concertina partition. The wardrobe has three generous shelves and the table is stored in here. It’s a cosy, cohesive bedroom with shower and toilet alongside.
Lighting throughout is excellent. There are three circular ceiling lights, spotlights and two huge mains lights with a dimmer switch at the front corners. Modern woodwork with clean lines is great for visual appeal. There’s one negative: above the heater is an empty space, drawer-shaped, giving the impression something had been missed out. Beside it is a cutlery drawer, especially useful as the one in the kitchen is too small for all your utensils.
This layout – especially with the added specification – gives you a caravan ideally suited to couples who like to cook. And if you’re a family of four you can be sure that there’s ample food preparation space.
The Corniche range takes you from a two-berth end kitchen layout through end washroom two-berth, three four-berths to two six-berths. Add to that Swift’s good build quality and you have a great package.

The 2009 Swift Corniche 18/4 is a popular fixed-bed layout, with the addition of a load of extras. Result? A great-value-package.
We like the standard Charisma caravans, which are a cut above some rival budget ranges when it comes to stylish fittings and quality of manufacture. The 555 is a practical layout, combining full length sofas with a fixed double bed.
The extras should help with residual values too.
