The icon of family caravanning, the Sprite Major 6 TD, now comes with a DAB radio and USB sockets.
This model has long been a stalwart of family caravanning. Through the years of its evolution, this icon of affordable family touring sells in volume. It’s easy to see why.
It sleeps six, it sits on a single axle, it has a rear family ‘room’ and it’s a mid-length, at 5.83 m.
Once upon a time Sprites were basic, of course. Today’s Major 6 TD is anything but basic, as spec and standards, driven by demand, have risen.
For 2019, Sprites have a new colour touch-screen control panel. It has an integrated tuning and sound setting control for the DAB radio, part of the Diamond Pack.
The pack adds £510 to the cost of the caravan. It gives buyers a hitch-head stabiliser, a door fly screen, a wheel lock receiver, a microwave and two cushions.
Sprites also come with a panoramic sunroof, which adds £365 to the price. Standard kit includes USB sockets; there are two on the front console.
Many top lockers give the 6 TD plenty of places for small items. There are six lockers above the lounge and three in the rear area, plus two big shelves.
Between the bunks and the wedge-shaped dining table for three sits a cabinet. At the back of the top shelf are a socket plus TV aerial points. A desk-style aperture, with a cover for when it’s not in use, means you can feed cables upward to a TV.
The shower room is on the offside, with the shower cubicle on the fore end. The cubicle contains a shelf. It's an ideal place for small caravanners to sit while a parent conducts the showering task. It’s a great design in a family caravan!
