Full review

Somerset caravan retailer Highbridge Caravan Centre offers five special edition Lunar Conquest models. These are the ES, with a side dining area; the SE, with a fixed bed, aligned on the nearside; the SB, with twin beds; the SI, the new layout for 2016, with a transverse island bed; the CK, a two-berth with a rear shower room, and the EK, a shorter and narrower two-berth than the CK, based on the Lunar Ariva.

Extra equipment

Conquests get a new rooflight style for 2016. These stunning, long, rectangular roof lights first appeared in Lunar’s Saros Limited Edition of the Clubman range, and now Conquest buyers can enjoy this lovely skyview feature, too.

Among the package of equipment that distinguishes the Conquest range from standard Quasars are a gas barbecue point, chrome grab handles, heavy-duty corner steadies and alloy wheels with automotive-style black outlines.

A stylish chrome kitchen tap is part of the enhanced equipment, too. Conquests have a remote-controlled alarm system that also features a remote control for the awning light, and an automatic changeover system for two gas cylinders.

Among fine details to notice are the socket surrounds which match those in the top-spec Clubman models.

And there are more features that bring Conquests closer to Clubmans. They share the same luxurious deep-pile carpet and the same soft furnishings scheme. It’s a delightfully tactile, plain, pale cream fabric, teamed with pastel blue curtains and cushions which have a raised pattern featuring a twig design.

And Conquests have enhanced lighting features in all areas of the caravan, including in the wardrobe, where a light comes on automatically when you open the door. It’s an impressive package of value and style.

Our verdict

Our example of the range pictured here, the Lunar Conquest SI, is priced at £18,920 including the £525 retailer delivery fee, which is £495 more than the corresponding Quasar 574, at £18,425 including delivery. The extras amount in value to £2500. So with this model you get £2005-worth of extras free of charge. That's clearly excellent value, and for a very appealing caravan.
