At £28,794 including the delivery charge of £595, and at 1800kg MTPLM, the Zephyr fights its corner among high-spec caravans and finds its buyers among people for whom caravan size and level of equipment are considered more important than weight.

The island double bed sits just aft of the kitchen. A sliding door leads to the shower room spanning the width of the caravan at the rear. A large mirror on the forward wall of the shower compartment serves as a practicality and makes the bedroom look even more spacious than it is.

Small shelves below each of the wardrobes that flank the bed are tailor-made for morning coffee mugs – luxury and practicality boxes are ticked here again!

The fridge-freezer is tower-style, almost domestic size, and sits opposite the main kitchen area, with the microwave above it.

Kitchen storage space is brilliant, with an array of cabinets and drawers, plus a cupboard opposite, alongside the fridge.

There's more than a touch of opulence about this year's Crusaders, with the Champagne shade of the sides reflected in the curtain fabric and cushions with a rather exotic, Oriental-inspired pattern; gorgeous!

Heating is the Alde system, complete with the Alde Load Monitor. Wheel locks, a 40-litre water tank and an Aquasource waterline to connect directly to a tap on a pitch are all standard.

Verdict

Laden with equipment including a water tank and a water line to connect to a tap on a pitch, the twin-axle Elddis Crusader Zephyr is up there in the luxury class. It has an island bed and a rear shower room, a large (155-litre capacity) fridge-freezer and an extractor fan to take steam away from the kitchen.

Well-specced and well-styled, the Zephyr is an eye-catching caravan, too, with Champagne-shade sides.
