A new six-berth layout with a washroom that's the same as in the eight-feet-wide Casita models arrives for 2019.
The Compass news highlight for 2019 is the arrival of a new 586 six-berth layout. This model has bunks at the rear on the nearside, a washroom with a separate shower on the offside and a central two-seater table. The seating here converts to a single bed with a pull-up bunk above.
Its layout was inspired by the success of a larger version, introduced last year. This larger model, the Casita 866, is a component of Compass's eight-feet-wide portfolio and, together with its sister model in the Elddis Avanté range, with the same spec, weight and price, caused a stir when it was introduced to the market last year.
It went on to prove very popular with buyers. Which is why the manufacturer decided to launch, in 2019, a similar layout in a standard width.
The washroom is the same as those in the eight-feet-wide models. Between the washroom and the bunk beds is a large wardrobe. It's an efficient layout, with all elements well located.
Casita décor for 2019 has grey as its accent colour, in the curtain tie-backs and the cushions, where it's mixed with white and a paler shade of grey.
The seven models in the Casita range have the Whale 4.3KW-heater system.
New features include more hooks in shower rooms, plus detail changes including new locker handles and switches, and EcoCamel circular shower heads are introduced.
Options to consider include an AL-KO Secure wheel lock at £250, an alarm system with PIR and corner steady senor at £310 and an Omnivent multispeed extractor fan instead of the roof light near to the kitchen, at £225.
Standard equipment includes AL-KO's ATC stability control system and Aquaclean stain-resistant upholstery.
At 1460kg the new-layout Compass Casita 586 can be towed by a wide range of mid-sized cars. It has excellent family accommodation with the flexibility of two extra bunks to make from the dining area – good for six and also fine for four family members plus the ability to accommodate two occasional young-caravanner guests.
