This new Coachman Vision 520 model has a versatile, open-plan layout with significant kitchen surface area, too.

Caravans with a side-dining-area layout have had a steady following for a long time, for two reasons. One is their open-plan aspect. The other is their appeal to both families and couples. Two people can make either twin beds or a double in the lounge and enjoy the luxury of a permanent dining area. Families can turn the dining area into bunks.

The Vision 520, though, stands out from this crowd because the dining area converts into a single bed; there’s no bunk above it.

The rationale it is most tourers with this layout are used as two or three-berths, rather than four.

The 520 has a large kitchen work surface, two drawers and a good-sized cabinet. A second cabinet separates the lounge from the dining area – and it has a brilliant design for a television and other media apparatus.

A desk-style hole for cables lets you place media devices on the top shelf of the cabinet, open to the lounge side. There are sockets (mains and 12V) and aerial points above the cabinet.

By the door a recessed area and a shelf provides somewhere convenient to put keys and phones as you step inside. In addition, a cabinet below offers a handy place to stow shoes so that they don’t clutter the doorway.

Coachman is known for its spacious washrooms and this one is typical. It contains a large wardrobe with two drawers beneath.

Also, within the shower room, on the other side of the recessed area beside the door, is the cabinet for the table.

A stylish, oval washbasin sits above a cabinet. A towel loop on the door, a hook on the forward wall and a rail on the rear wall give good towel hanging provision.

The Vision range comes with the Truma Combi 6 heating system. They don’t have ATC (for extra towing security) as standard, but it is a peace-of-mind option for an extra £355.
