IN the past few years, Coachman has built up an impressive reputation for providing quality and luxury caravans for the 50-plus market.
But this year, the company has taken the surprise step to start catering properly for the family market with this new Amara 560/6, offering six berths.
It retains Coachman’s simple approach to design, with classic exterior appeal and clean blue graphics. The interior, sporting light fabrics, is family friendly and modern.
There’s a traditional lounge up front, with the usual central drawer unit. The spacious kitchen is further back with a fridge opposite. The side dinette that converts to temporary bunks is opposite the well-designed, but compact washroom.
The fixed bunks sit at the back. Both have proper mattresses and slatted bases. Both also have exactly the same quality spotlights that are fitted in the front lounge. They don’t reach all the way across the back because there is a tall wardrobe next to the door. This cupboard has a large shelf and hanging space, improving on the space offered in the main wardrobe between kitchen and washroom.
Kit levels are high because this is a Coachman and no entry-level caravan. There are plug sockets galore, DVD wiring, a CD player with MP3, Omnivent, electric heating and plenty of lights. The bottom bunk lifts against the back wall to create a bike storage area and tie-down points are actually integrated into the bed frame.
