THE Ambiance sits just above the very continental Antares range and still has the door on the European side. However, it’s got slightly more equipment than Antares and feels a lot homelier.
All UK-bound Caravelair models have plain smooth sides and simple blue and grey graphics running along similar themes. Interiors are homely with smart two-tone cupboard doors and neutral beige fabrics. There are no curtains (but blinds and flyscreen are standard) yet the mock curtains and voile help to create a warmer feel.
This 400 has a kitchen and washroom at the rear, a double dinette in the middle (with wardrobe and small dresser opposite) and a big fixed double bed at the front. The bed frame lifts up to access the storage underneath and there is a nifty leg to keep the bed up while you are rummaging around.
The dinette can easily seat four but is just as cosy for two.
While it is a European caravan, the spec levels are good and the UK electrics are in place. The washroom has a tap that doubles as the shower and the kitchen sink comes with a removable plastic drainer. The combined sink and hob unit are curved to create extra worktop space. Storage is adequate for two but wouldn’t really be enough for four.
Equipment includes a water heater and space heater, waste water holding tank, TV point, rooflight and battery box - and if you want an oven/grill then take a look at the Ambiance 450 with twin single beds.
