IF you’re looking for proof that caravans are getting heavier, look at the Ace range.
Six months ago we’d have chosen the company’s Award Brightstar as our pick of the bunch, as it tipped the scales at just 1301kg; this year’s model has an MTPLM of 1370kg.
The Jubilee Ambassador is more sparsely equipped, but it offers the same layout and virtually the same interior space. Aside from the fixed-bed four-berth Envoy that sits above the Ambassador in the Jubilee range, thi
s is the only Ace something like an A4 will tow, but it’s a great ‘van and although it’s merely the entry-level model, don’t let that put you off.
Opt for the Ambassador and you’ll get a cracking end washroom; you don’t have to settle for cramped washing facilities, because this caravan’s smallest room isn’t really that small. It even has a separate shower cubicle, and the washroom is plenty big enough - just like the rest of the ‘van. Things are helped of course by the fact that this is just a two-berth ‘van, but with just a pair on board there’s space aplenty for cooking, dining and relaxing - and it’s well equipped too.
