Yorkshire Tourism Winners

IN a glittering ceremony held at the Magna Science Adventure Centre on the evening of Tuesday 11 September, the winners of the White Rose Awards for Tourism, organised by the Yorkshire Tourist Board were announced. In total there were 94 finalists biting their nails and crossing their fingers as the results were read out…

Winning the award for Caravan Holiday Park of the Year was Burton Constable Holiday Park & Arboretum in Sproatley. The other finalists in this category included: Nostell Priory Holiday Park (Blue Sky Resorts Ltd) in Wakefield; Goosewood Holiday Park in Sutton on the Forest; Maustin Park Ltd in Wetherby; Primrose Valley Holiday Park in Filey; and Scarborough Camping & Caravanning Club Site in Scarborough.

Other categories at the award ceremony included the Yorkshire Pub of the Year – the pot lifted by the General Tarleton Inn, in Ferrensby – with the runners up being the Craven Arms (Appletreewick), Duke William Inn (Shelf), the Pipe & Glass Inn (South Dalton), the Travellers Rest (Sowerby), and the Wensleydale Heifer (West Witton).

Top visitor attractions included the Yorkshire Waterways Museum in Goole – which won the top award in the under 50,000 visitors category – while the National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield was ranked as the top attraction in the over 50,000 visitors category.
