Top 10 Beaches for Caravanners in 2017
The Caravan and Motorhome Club announced its top 10 beaches for 2017 this week. With amounts of UK holidaymakers choosing to stay in Britain for the summer, beach holidays are going to be popular for caravanners.
If you want a beach holiday but you aren't sure where to stay, look at this recommended list for ideas.
But, you’d better be quick. Campsites fill up quickly!
England
Where: Littlehampton East Beach, Devon
About: Near Plymouth you’ll find this mile-long shingle and sand beach which often gains the highly desirable ‘Blue Flag’ status, which means it’s a top-quality beach.
The beach has a super promenade, golf course, restaurants, a theme park & amusements, seafront gardens and a bench 1,000 feet long, the longest in the UK.
Ideal for: Making sand castles, families (there are RNLI Lifeguards and a ‘Kidcare Wristband scheme in operation in the summer).
Campsite: Littlehampton Caravan Club Site
Cost: From £21.70 per night for two adults per pitch, per night in a caravan or motorhome.
Where: Brean Sands, Somerset
About: If you love walking and active beach sports, you will love Brean Sands in Somerset. It’s 7-miles long and is one of the longest stretches of sand in Europe.
Within the beach is Brean Down, a 97-metre high natural pier (owned by the National Trust) which reaches out into the sea, and from which you get great views of the Somerset Levels and the Bristol Channel.
Ideal for: Walking and beach sports
Campsite: Hurn Lane Caravan Club Site
Cost: From £23.20 per night for two adults per pitch, per night in a caravan or motorhome.
Where: Worthing Beach, West Sussex
About: When the tide goes out from the shingle beach it reveals a sandy beach. The Victorian promenade hosts many live music events across the season.
Ideal for: Caravanners who want a peaceful seaside holiday.

Cost: From £14.00 per night for two adults per pitch, per night in a caravan or motorhome.
Where: Hythe Beach, Kent
About: The pebble beach sits next to the super, Victorian promenade. The town has history, which you will see from its Medieval and Georgian buildings.
Ideal for: Anglers, sunbathers, cyclings and walkers, kite-surfers.
Campsite: Daleacres Caravan Club Site
Cost: From £19.50 per night for two adults per pitch, per night in a caravan or motorhome.
Where: Sutton on Sea beach, Lincolnshire
About: Lincolnshire might be the first place to come to mind when you are looking for a beautiful beach. But, Sutton on Sea is a gem. The seaside village is quiet, quaint and worth a visit.
Ideal for: Swimming, picnics, beach games, sandcastles and crabbing.

Wales
Where: Whitesands Bay Beach, Pembrokeshire
About: Whitesands Bay Beach is three miles of glorious, fine white sand. There’s a sunken Royal Navy ship offshore popular with divers. With good rollers, the beach is great for watersports.
Ideal for: Canoeists, surfers, body boarders.
Campsite: St David’s Lleithyr Meadow Caravan Club Site
Cost: From £18.80 per night for two adults per pitch, per night in a caravan or motorhome.
Scotland
Where: Carradale beach, Kintyre
About: If you want peace and quiet, then Carradale village is for you. It’s a picture-perfect harbour with its fishing boats and wonderful views over the Sound of Arran. In Carradale Bay, there’s a sandy beach. Plus, there is a nearby nature reserve which has its own feral goats, and a 2,000 year old fort.
Ideal for: Walkers, swimmers, nature lovers.
Campsite: Carradale Bay Caravan Site
Cost: From £21.80 per night for two adults per pitch, per night in a caravan or motorhome.
Where: Dunnet Head, Caithness
About: With two miles of sheltered, sandy beach next to rolling sand dunes, Dunnet Head is a great spot for windsurfers and wildlife watchers alike. Caravanners benefit from direct access to the beach too.
Ideal for: Sunbathers, swimmers, surfers, wildlife watchers.

Cost: From £19.60 per night for two adults per pitch, per night in a caravan or motorhome.
Where: Luce Sands, Dumfries and Galloway
About: Seven miles of Luce Sands means there’s plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their activities. The beach is near the lovely village, Sandhead, and it is the best beach in the area. With all the wildlife and designated as a Special Area for Conservation, Luce Sands is worth visiting.
Ideal for: Horse riding, kite flying and marine wildlife
Campsite: New England Bay Caravan Club Site
Cost: From £18.60 per night for two adults per pitch, per night in a caravan or motorhome.
Where: Yellowcraig beach, East Lothian
About: The views on Yellowcraig Beach inspired Robert Louis Stevenson to write ‘Treasure Island’, so you can imagine how spectacular this place must be!
There’s lots to do for the family including woodland walks and trails, a local castle and gardens (which holds a World Record - find out what it is here).
Ideal for: Walkers, nature enthusiasts, families.
Campsite: Yellowcraig Caravan Club Site
