Save Money on Fuel
A new website has just been launched to help you find the cheapest fuel prices in the UK. PetrolPrices.com gives free access to petrol prices across all UK service stations – which could save drivers hundreds of pounds every year.
Website founder Brendan McLoughlin said, “PetrolPrices.com was set up to help people find cheap fuel. Obviously petrol prices are increasingly expensive, and is something that people get very annoyed about. This website could make a real difference to people’s bank balance.”
The website highlights a huge discrepancy in fuel prices across the UK, in some cases a difference of up to 23p per litre. According to the website, the current maximum price for diesel is 106.9p per litre, and the lowest 93.5p. Asda comes top of their list of branded petrol stations with the cheapest unleaded fuel at just 86p per litre. Gulf is the most expensive chain at 92p per litre.
“I was really surprised about the discrepancy in prices across the UK” said McLoughlin, “I have been using the service a lot and it has made me much more price aware. In one month I have saved over £50.”
Price conscious drivers can now sign up online to receive email updates of the cheapest prices in your area, and it will also tell you where to fill up on a long journey. The free service lists the unleaded, diesel, LRP, super and LPG prices at 96% of all UK service stations.
Motorhome owner Stephen Garret from Dorset said “I think the website is a good idea in principle, as I would definitely be prepared to leave the motorway if I thought I could get cheaper fuel elsewhere. Fuel prices, especially diesel, are ridiculously expensive these days, so people like me who own a motorhome need all the help we can get.”
