Nature-loving campers can observe a variety of wildlife, including green woodpeckers, wrens, bats and muntjac deer – all from the comfort of their own unit at the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Certificated Site, The Secret Garden in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. The site has been developed in a two-acre nature garden aimed at attracting and maintaining local wildlife. Site owner Steve Pollington has recently installed numerous services on each of the five pitches, including mains electricity, mains water and television points.
“The TV service incorporates five channels of live nature-cam TV covering the nest box and general wildlife activity from within the garden,” says Steve. “We have also planted native bee and bird food and habitat plants to ensure The Secret Garden provides the ideal conditions for continued wildlife establishment.”
A fenced off wooded area close by also houses five pigs every year from April to September and campers are invited to feed the pigs any vegetable scraps from their own cooking.
