Over 70 per cent of its new members have taken up motorhoming, caravanning and camping hobbies due to the pandemic, says the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

According to the Club — which saw a 14 per cent rise in memberships last year — the majority of its members who have joined in the past year say that the impact of the global pandemic encouraged them to persue the outdoor hobbies. Plus, 75 per cent of new members have said that they're more inclined to tour in the future, suggesting this summer will be a busy one for UK campsites.

Nick Lomas, the Club’s director general, said: “We’re delighted to have welcomed so many new members, and it’s great that there is such an appetite for touring holidays from them and our longstanding members as soon as travel is allowed again. Campsite holidays make it easy to maintain social distancing, and you can book our Covid-secure sites with real confidence as we don’t require deposits and amendments are free.”
