Lakes are the 'caravanning capital' of the UK
A SURVEY by Barrons has revealed the Lake District to be the caravanning capital of the UK.
More than 30 per cent of respondents believed the Lakes to be their most visited destination with Yorkshire, Scotland and North Wales coming close runners-up.
The Lakes’ popularity is said to have grown following the film, Miss Potter, starring Renee Zellweger, with many holidaymakers flocking to see the real life sets.
Whilst UK caravanners debated over the choice between the Lakes’ dazzling scenery and the rolling hills of Yorkshire, France was selected as the favourite destination abroad, gaining 75 per cent of the vote.
With more than a third of caravanners getting away on average up to twelve weekends a year, choice of destination and holiday parks are vital to experiencing a fantastic holiday.
Frances Turner from Barrons said: “The survey results show the amount of diversity available through caravanning. These types of holidays are tailor-made to suit everyone’s needs, whether you go away many times throughout the year for a few nights, or once or twice for three weeks.
It just goes to show that people get an awful lot of use out of their caravans and motorhomes.”
