Hymer and Dethleffs join forces to make budget brands

A new German factory is being built by Hymer and Dethleffs to begin the manufacture of budget brands of motorhomes and caravans.

These brands, dubbed Carado (Hymer) and Sunlight (Dethleffs) will be completely separate from the parent companies and will be built by Capron GmbH at the new factory. The purpose-built factory, costing tens of millions of Euros, uses 23,000 square metres for production, but sits on a site measuring 214,000 square metres.

The production lines should be up and running from November, turning out 1,000 vehicles between the two brands in the 2007 season. This will rise to 3,000-4,000 vehicles in the following year.

Although the UK won't see these budget models until the 2008 model year, the brands will have their own stands at the Dusseldorf show this September, should your curiosity be awakened.
