First Family Takes Delivery of New Airstream Yukon in North Yorkshire
One British family experienced a dream come true recently. They became the first take delivery of the new Airstream Yukon in the UK from Leisure World in Catterick.
The Airstream Yukon is one of the three models of the iconic, American caravans, immediately recognisable for their distinct style and design. The Airstreams came to market in the 1930s, and are now caravans made for people who want both style and adventure.
Leisure World Catterick is just one of sis dealers to stock the Airstreams in the UK. Jak Bailes from the dealership, said the customer liked the 'individuality of owning an Airstream'.
He went on to say:
"Because each is handmade, every Airstream is individual. They are like snowflakes – not one is the same."
According to Bailes, each Airstream takes around 400 hours to build. That's ten times more than traditional caravans. Each Airstream has up to 3,000 of the distinctive rivets holding together the aluminium panels. The engineers fit each by hand. Furthermore, each is sprayed with 10,000 gallons of water to check it is does not leak.
All this attention to detail means an Airstream Missouri, the smallest of the range, costs over £78,000. The top of the range model, the Colorado, costs nearly £92,000.
But, the resale value remains, according to Neil Farwell, sales manager at Leisure World Catterick, the best on the market. He added:
"Not that you'll find many second hand models for sale. The people that buy them intend to keep them and pass them down the family. They become heirlooms."
