Discover Leisure "confident" of company buy-outs

Discover Leisure say they are "confident" of acquiring both Barrons and Mendip Caravan Centre – creating what is believed to be the largest retailer of caravans and motorhomes in the UK.

The company raised more than £20m in order to finance the buy-outs, subject to shareholders' approval at an Extraordinary General Meeting on July 2.

Trevor Parker, chief executive of Discover Leisure, said that there will be significant investment in a number of key areas – mainly the training of staff and the improvement of service and parts supply.

He said: “From a customer point of view we intend to deliver far better front-end service to the customer and start to invest in training of our people.

"We also think parts supply could be improved as well as warranty issues.”
