Caravan park owners win business award from Dragon's Den star Theo Paphitis

Owners of Pinewood Holiday Park in Scarborough are celebrating after winning a business award from Dragon's Den star Theo Paphitis through Twitter.

Small Business Sunday was created by Theo to give small businesses the chance to tell him about their work. Every Sunday, Theo chooses his six favourite businesses from thousands of applicants on Twitter and retweets (forwards) the successful businesses to nearly a quarter of a million of his followers.

Park owners Dave and Kerry Woodhead were one of the first winners of SBS, and were invited to a special event in Birmingham where they got the chance to meet and talk with Theo following a presentation.

"When we first heard that we were a SBS winner, it was in the early days of the competition," explains Kerry. "We didn't really know much about Twitter or SBS at the time, but it soon became clear by the messages we were receiving that it was a big deal.

"The event was brilliant. Theo and his team were so friendly and down to earth. The speeches were inspirational and everyone made time to speak to us.

"Theo was very entertaining, even when being bombarded with an intensive question and answer session. We are very proud to have won this award and extremely pleased to have been invited to this even and to have the opportunity to meet Theo."

Created over six years ago by the Scarborough-born couple, Pinewood is a Wild West-themed holiday park in Scarborough, with electric hook-ups and a number of different types of accommodation from handmade and modern tipis, cowboy camping shacks and chuck wagons. Couples and families can spend quality time together, staying somewhere memorable and unique.
