Caravan Club unveils 2009 Towcar of the Year
Announced this afternoon at the Royal Automobile Club in London, the results show the 2.0-litre TDI Superb beat off stiff competition from 38 other entrants to become overall 2009 winner.
It also won the category for vehicles priced between £20,000 and £25,000.
In a statement, The Caravan Club said of the Superb: “One of its best features is the rear load compartment. The ‘caravanability’ judges found it would take a full load of typical caravanning equipment, and loved the Skoda’s unique rear tailgate design that can be opened as a conventional saloon boot or hatchback.
And club chairman Grenville Chamberlain said: “Skoda should be proud of its achievement in this rigorous competition and the Superb 2.0 TDI is sure to be a popular towing vehicle with our members.”
Testing took place at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire and event judges included Which Caravan Managing Editor Mark Sutcliffe.
A FREE 20-page Towcar of the Year supplement featuring a comprehensive round-up of category winners and details of how testing took place will be given away with the November issue of Which Caravan magazine, on sale Thursday, October 2.
