Bristol-based motorhome and caravan manufacturer, Bailey, has embarked on a 3,500 adventure called the Sahara Challenge, in association with the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Using two Bailey Discovery D4-4 caravans, pulled by SsangYong towing vehicles, and one motorhome – a Bailey Alliance SE 76-4 — the team set off from the company’s South Liberty Lane premises today and will travel through Spain and Portugal, across the Strait of Gibraltar into Morocco, over the Atlas Mountains and as far south as the edge of the Sahara Desert before returning home in a 20-day journey.

This is the fourth long-distance endurance test Bailey has undertaken, travelling through varying weather and road conditions to test the manufacturer's patented Alu-Tech technology, which is designed to make vehicles more robust, more durable and yet light, offering greater protection against the elements.

Watch the YouTube videos of Bailey's previous challenges across the Australian Outback (‘West to East Challenge’), to the Arctic Circle (‘Arctic Adventure’) and to Asia (‘Bristanbul Challenge’) here.

You'll also be able to see regular updates of the 20-day journey on Bailey's social media channels using #SaharaChallenge.
