There's more to Le Tour de Yorkshire than just the race!
Pack your caravan before setting out for God's Own County this July and you'll see some of the world's greatest cyclists taking to Yorkshire's roads, battling it out on bikes through incredible scenery for that coverted yellow jersey.

Where to go and what to do
Ripon Cathedral
Ripon Cathedral (HG4 1QS), founded by St Wilfred, dates back almost fourteen centuries. Although much of the structure has changed over time, a Saxon crypt still remains, making it one of the oldest, operational Church buildings in England.T 01765 602072

Knaresborough Castle
Knaresborough Castle (HG5 8AS) is a medieval stronghold ruins that towers over the River Nidd and Forest of Knaresborough. Visitors can see the remains of the King’s tower, enjoy the Castle grounds and enter the Courthouse Museum.

Fountains Abbey
The Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (HG4 3DY) is home to the ruins of a 12th century Cistercian abbey and the only surviving Cistercian corn mill (World Heritage site) situated in a Georgian water-garden within 800 acres of medieval deer park. Visitors can also browse the richly decorated Victorian St Mary’s Church and Elizabethan Fountains Hall.T 01765 608888

Brimham Rocks
Brimham Rocks and Moor (HG3 4DW) is a National Trust site of weird and wonderful rock formations at a height nearly 300 metres. Located in heather moorland within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the area is rich in wildlife. Look out for strangely recognisably shaped rocks!
Royal Horticultural Society
RHS Garden Harlow Carr (HG3 1QB) is a garden in keeping with the Yorkshire landscape. Ideal for a peaceful wander through the stunning 58 acre garden, but also great for entertaining children, with their regular workshops, events and activities such as planting bulbs.T 01423 565418

The Forbidden Corner
Set within a four-acre garden in the heart of Tupgill Park and the Yorkshire Dales The Forbidden Corner (DL8 4TJ) lies in wait… A labyrinth of tricky tunnels, chambers and surprises! Extraordinary statues, a pyramid and paths and passages that lead to nowhere are sure to baffle any orienteer.

Bolton Abbey
Bolton Abbey (BD23 6EX) is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales on the banks of the River Wharfe. With just under 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside, over 80 miles of footpaths and ample space to run around and enjoy the fresh air, there is something for all ages. Theakston Brewery
Based in Masham, Theakston Brewery (HG4 4YD) is welcoming the Tour de France this summer with a special brew to mark the occasion.
Founded in 1827, T&R Theakston Ltd is an independent, family brewing company situated in the Yorkshire Dales market town of Masham, North Yorkshire. The company is controlled and run by direct descendents (great-great grandsons) of the founder Robert Theakston.
Visitors can take regular daytime tours, or book a private tour in advance.
