Before you tow
CHECK that…
■ The rooflights and windows are securely closed
■ The fridge is switched to 12-volt operation
■ The cupboards and lockers are secured
■ The caravan door is locked
■ All four corner steadies are raised
■ The gas is turned off at the cylinder
■ The coupling is secure
■ The jockey wheel is raised and secured
■ The hitch-head stabiliser is lowered
■ The break-away cable is attached
■ The electrical connection is attached to the car
■ The caravan brake is off
■ All road lights are working
■ Extension mirrors are securely attached and adjusted
… and it’s wise to check both the caravan and car tyre pressures before a journey, too.
