Caravan Awards: Best Family Lightweight Caravan 2017
There is a wide choice for couples looking for their ideal lightweight caravan.
Best Family Lightweight Caravan
Firstly, the Best Family Lightweight Caravan winner is the Venus 590/6.
£15,899
This exceptionally well-designed, lightweight caravan won its class for its spaciousness; six could easily holiday in a Venus 590 even without an awning.
Venus, made by Lunar, is a range of six lightweight layouts, two of which are six-berth; the 590 is a new model introduced for 2017.
The brilliance of this model for family harmony is not just about the spaciousness of the caravan; it’s about the separate rear 'room', containing bunk beds, plus a spacious table area.
The Venus 590 is a generous 7.39m in overall length yet its MTPLM figure is only 1380k. And, at £15,899, you get a lot of caravan for your money.
Heating and water heating is from the Truma Combi system. Cooking equipment is a Thetford Duplex combination oven-grill and three-burner hob.
The washroom, on the offside, contains a separate shower.

Shortlisted: Caravelair Antarès 496
£14,999
Caravelair Antarès, made in France and now imported by the giant Marquis group, are lightweight, low-priced caravans with bright, clean styling. Caravelair caravans are made by the giant Trigano Group. They are France’s most popular caravan marque.
There are three family layouts in the new range, all of them exceptionally light in weight and low in price, offering amazing value.
The 496 is an unusual layout, with a double bed across the width of the caravan at the front, and a four-seater dining area in the centre. The bunks are secluded in the corner behind the dining area, which transforms into a double bed.
