The Old Oaks - Somerset's finest campsite

546c58ca-ca17-4d56-a4d0-d752704864cf

This multi award-winning, adults-only campsite really sets the bar for how other sites should be. The site and its facilities are immaculate, plus the thoughtful extras really make the difference between your holiday being just okay and being absolutely perfect.

The Old Oaks is set in the glorious Somerset countryside, close to Glastonbury and its famous Tor. With six different areas on park to choose from, the pitches on site are larger than average and include hardstanding with electric, fully serviced super pitches, and seven fully serviced premier pitches that are hardstanding, each with their own generous grass area for sitting. These extra special pitches also have a picnic bench, chiminea, bird table and Satellite/Digital TV hook up. Stunning views across the Mendips come as standard.

Motorhomes, caravans and tents are welcome. There's also luxury glamping accommodation - choose from a Glamping Cabin, Shepherd's Hut or Mini Cedar Lodge with hot tub.

No expense has been spared with the ultra-modern toilet block which is of hotel quality and includes ladies and gents facilities along with private unisex cubicles with a toilet, shower and basin. There’s also a laundry with the additional touch of a washing machine purely for pet bedding.

Pets are one thing that are really taken into consideration here – there’s a warm water dog shower for rinsing off muddy paws and a fully enclosed dog exercise area. Other treats on site include a half-acre coarse fishing lake, a shop and free WiFi.

If you fancy exercising yourself, a footpath leads directly from the site to the base of Glastonbury Tor, less than a mile away. After climbing the steps to a height of 150 metres you are rewarded with magnificent panoramic views and can explore St Michael’s Tower that sits at the top.

From the end of March until the end of September, a daily minibus service runs from The Old Oaks to places like Glastonbury, Wells and the Clarks Village outlet shopping centre. You can also take part in painting courses that the site organises, or take to your bike to explore the delights of the local area.

One excellent extra on site is the fish and chip delivery service which comes every Friday night in season. You simply pre-order and it’s delivered to the tourist information room. The same applies with Indian food on a Wednesday, Chinese on a Saturday and pizza and kebabs on a Monday. Another bonus for foodies is the local food boxes to order – one with everything you could need for breakfast – and the other for a true taste of Somerset.

One thing's for sure, you will certainly experience a true taste of quality during your stay at the Old Oaks.
