Somers Wood touring park celebrates 20 years

Somers Wood Caravan Park is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a series of birthday events for guests this season. Owners, Angela and Marc Fowler, plan to make 2016 a year to remember at their friendly, adult only, Premier Park at Meriden in the very centre of England.

“May is the perfect month for our first celebration,” said Angela, who will be giving away special commemorative mugs to the first 20 guests booking midweek breaks between 9 and 26 May.

October will feature 1990s’ pitch prices.  That’s just £20 for two midweek nights on a standard pitch. This offer will be available 17 to 23 October, immediately following the NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show.

Surprise specials for returning guests are also being planned, while Angela is sure to find more reasons to give away commemorative mugs throughout the season.

When Angela and Marc acquired Somers Wood at the end of 1994, fallen and damaged trees had to be cleared before building work could start the eco-friendly facilities. Somers Wood finally opened in 1996 and, 20 years on, the park’s hardstanding pitches and facilities are graded 5-Stars by Visit England.

Many guests notice the birdsong around Somers Wood. Throughout the park’s development, great care has been given to conserving wildlife habitats within the restored woodland which is a part of England’s ancient Forest of Arden.

Somers Wood for is well known for its proximity to the National Exhibition Centre. Many guests stay at the park for caravan shows, Crufts and other festivals around Birmingham and Coventry. Additionally, two top golf courses and twenty acres of prime fishing lakes surround the park, while guests can also visit a selection of major tourism attractions nearby.
