Peterborough showground announces temporary September campsite
The East England Arena, which normally plays host to the National Motorhome and Campervan Show each April, has announced that it will be opening a temporary campsite on the showground from 4 - 27 September.
The campsite will have pitches for 40 small motorhomes or caravans on grass and 20 large motorhomes on hard standing. The hardstanding by the main hall will be used for larger motorhomes to park on, while all the grass pitches are located next to the main site roads.
The on-site toilets and showers are currently closed, so this wild camping location will only be available to units with their own facilities on board. The showground also states that no electric hook-up is available at the moment, but that it may consider it if the demand is there.
This development follows other similar moves from showgrounds, but is limited to the dates in question due to scheduled events. The cost will be £18 per night, for both the grass and the hardstandings, and pitches must be prebooked through pitchup.com
The site is just ten minutes drive from Ferry Meadows, with Stamford (and Burghley House) being just up the A1, while Cambridge is only a 50 minute drive. The cycle path network in Peterborough is also excellent, with the Green Wheel offering a network of routes in and around the city created as part of a Millennium project.
