New walking routes announced for Norfolk campers

Holidaymakers and hikers alike are being urged to make the most of the beautiful north Norfolk coastline following publication of a new set of walking routes starting from East Runton holiday destination, Woodhill Park.

Seven coastal and inland routes ranging in distance from 2.5 miles to 7.5 miles are featured in the set, which has been devised in partnership with Walk Norfolk and is available online, or as a handy foldable map from the park’s reception building.

Weybourne, Sheringham and West Runton all feature, as do the National Trust’s Felbrigg estate, Aylmertyon village, Beeston Regis Heath and Incleborough Hill. Points of interest and the best places for refreshments are also included with the maps, as well as written directions.

Woodhill Park director Michael Timewell came up with the idea of creating the new routes in conjunction with the park’s conservation and events manager, Sarah Kemp, after agreeing to allow public access through Woodhill as part of Natural England’s planned England Coastal Path.

He said, “These routes are great for people who want to ditch the car and get out and about to see what our coastline has to offer. Woodhill Park commands some truly spectacular cliff-top views, but it is also perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding area either on foot or via public transport.”

Buses to Sheringham, Cromer, Aylsham, Holt, North Walsham and Norwich stop outside the park, as does the Coasthopper service between Hunstanton and Wells next the Sea.

The England Coast Path is a planned trail all around England's coast. It is due to be complete by 2020, when it will be one of the world’s longest coastal walking routes.

More information on the walks can be found on the Woodhill Park website.
