Introduction to Auchenlarie Holiday Park

For things we look for in a holiday, I enjoy the sense of peace I feel when near the sea, and my partner loves the opportunity to put his mountain bike to the test. So, for us, Auchenlarie, with views over the Solway Coast, direct access to a secluded beach, and close to some of the best mountain biking southern Scotland has to offer, was the ideal choice.

For those looking to enjoy the natural surroundings, it’s only a short drive to the Galloway Forest Park. We took the 20-minute drive to the Kirroughtree Visitor Centre to get out on our bikes for the day.

What the campsite has to offer

If you want lots to do and enjoy on site, there is a leisure suite with indoor swimming pool, gym and solarium, plus an indoor arcade, the Starlight Suite for evening entertainment and a dog-friendly sports bar. There’s also a restaurant and takeaway with a unique boat seating area built into the restaurant, and a terrace for al fresco dining when the weather allows. If you want to chill out, you don’t even need to cook – the clubhouse serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

All the touring pitches at Auchenlarie provide electric hook-up, water and TV points. Hardstandings are also available and there are toilet and shower facilities.

We took the 20-minute drive to the Kirroughtree Visitor Centre to get out on our bikes for the day. This is one of Scotland’s 7stanes – award-winning mountain biking centres that span the south of the country and offer some of the best mountain biking trails. There are routes for all levels, from families and the novice rider to the more experienced. There’s also bike hire, a shop and café here.
