Cakes & Ale is a family owned & run campsite offering 50 touring pitches, all are on hardstandings with electric hook-up, water fill and water empty points. Pitches are also large enough to accommodate up to 40-foot long vehicles. We have a well-maintained facilities building with individual wet rooms, food prep & wash up room and laundry room, as well as a shop & bar - dedicated to the Yoxford Boys (357 fighter group based here during WW2). Children will enjoy the outdoor play area and the seven-acre recreation field. The beach is a few miles away from the site.

Cakes & Ale opened in 1968 and is one of three holiday parks run by the same family in Suffolk (the other two are the Moon and Sixpence, near Woodbridge and Priory Park, near Ipswich).

"It's a couple of miles from the beach and this is a fabulous stretch of coastline,” enthuses owner Fergus Little. “A lot of our customers are couples or small families and they come here for quality time and the peace and tranquillity; the pace of life is that much slower. We do not do groups and the park is very peaceful after 9pm,” he adds.

The site has 50 touring pitches set in five acres and can accommodate 40-footer Winnebagos. All pitches have hardstanding, electric hook-up, grey waste facility and individual water taps. There's a central area with a young orchard to provide a greener backdrop to the view out of your tent or caravan. The seven-scre recreation field has 2 tennis courts, football nets and golf driving range as well as a second, larger play area.

And the name? “My mum was a Somerset Maughan fan,” says Fergus.
