Deservedly rated five-stars by the Scottish Tourist Board, you’d expect standards to be high at the Trossachs and driving up to the reception area (past some attractive log cabins nestled around a small lake) it’s easy to see that this is a well-manicured site. In total it occupies a 40-acre plot of land, so it has a spacious feel.
There’s plenty of room to park up around reception and the building itself is housed in a large building. It has to be big as it also houses a coffee shop, selling steaming hot drinks and incredible homemade cakes as well as a convenience store including camping basics, sweets, crisps and soft drinks.
The pitches on the site are all accessed via wide tarmacked roads and are set in neat terraced rows amidst mature trees. The highest tiers are reserved for static caravans. All touring pitches are on gravelled hardstandings with 16-amp electric hook-ups and the majority of these are fully service pitches with fresh water points, water drainage and TV connection points. The pitches vary in size, from modest plots suitable for only small motorhomes, to ones suitable for tag-axle vehicles or even RVs.
Being south-facing the site makes the most of any sun, while the trees provide welcome shade and protection from the wind. The elevated position of the pitches also gives it a good view of the surrounding countryside (you can see the striking Ben Lomond in the distance).
The log-cabin style toilet block is on the second of the two tiers of touring pitches and features a laundrette, TV and games room, as well as toilets and showers.
There is an outdoor children’s play area on-site, as well as a dog-walking area and various woodland walks to enjoy directly from the site. For more of a challenge, it’s also worth noting that the West Highland Way runs very close to the site and is well worth exploring … Why not see if you can “bag a Munro” too!
