Woodville Caravan Park

Located just off the A381 in the town of Ipplepen, Woodville Park is a neat 32-pitch adults-only campsite that is located behind the owners bungalow. The entrance is wide and gated and once you’ve checked in you enter the site via a gravelled road.

This leads into a turning area with two roads leading on the campsite. All 32 pitches are on level gravelled hardstandings (making them all weather) and they all have 16 amp electric hook-up. Each has plenty of space around it too and most have a picnic bench located next to them – this is ideal for wolfing down your barbecue during the summer months. There’s even an pergola barbecue area to enable budding Jamie Olivers to knock up some food.

The layout of the campsite is clever and despite it being open plan, the irregular spacing of the pitches, together with the well-sculpted grounds that feature immaculate lawns, trees, shrubs and even palm trees give the site an upmarket feel. Point a camera in any direction and you can’t help snap a decent shot at this campsite. As the whole site is corralled by mature trees road it has a private feel to it.

By the entrance there’s a shed with tourist information leaflets in it, together with a couple of surprisingly realistic grazing sheep (no wonder the grass is so neat!). Real pets are welcome on the site, it’s worth noting.

At the entrance is an attractive pitched-roof toilet block that is well-maintained and offers free hot showers, toilets, disabled facilities and a covered outdoor dish-washing area. Soothing music plays inside the toilet block, which is a thoughtful touch. Also on site is a small laundry room, complete with washing machine and tumble dryer and a caravan storage area.

As the owners live on the premises, it’s clear that they have a real passion for keeping this campsite neat and tidy, while their eye for detail means that there are lots of thoughtful touches to make your stay even more relaxing. If you’re looking for a tranquil, relaxing and well-maintained adults-only site, close to all the attractions of South Devon, then Woodville is a good choice.
